Where do I begin? How about the first experience my husband and I had a few months ago while needing an oil change. We live just down the road from Honest One Auto Care so my husband called, set up an appointment, received an estimate and we were there within 15 minutes. We were very disappointed by the lack of professionalism, the pressure to add on other services and/or book them for the near future, the amount of personal information they 'required' for their files as well as the extremely inaccurate estimate (I understand an estimate can vary, but this was no where close to figure we were originally given and we had not approved any "upgrades"). Adding to our disappointment, a promised half an hour turned into over an hour for a simple oil change. I couldn't help but think that we were judged by our appearance. I felt as though they misinterpreted my eclectic style and my husbands cocked hat as being uneducated when it comes to vehicles. The reality of the situation is that my father in law is also a mechanic so we know a thing or two.... actually quite a bit more. Because it was just an oil change, we brushed our bad experience under the rug and moved on. Then... earlier this week, as my husband was dropping me off at work,I noticed that our coolant was literally pouring out. My husband immediately brought it to the closet shop... this happened to be Honest One Auto Care. We knew right away that it was our water pump and that it would need to be replaced. Honest One confirmed our thoughts then proceeded to assume that we were going to give them the go-head to repair. Because my father-in-law lives in Brainerd, MN and due to our poor experience with Honest One previously along with their aggressive customer service and extremely high quote, we decided to bring our vehicle to another shop. Before giving our car back to my husband, they decided to add more coolant, without permission, AND charged us $18 for the gallon they put in (there is a Super America across the street had we wanted to grab some, which we didn't since it was coming right back out... water would suffice until we got to the other shop). This, with their extremely rude behavior after choosing to not move forward with them, was our breaking point. We will NEVER give Honest One our business again. We will also tell all of our friends, family and anyone else who will listen about their poor customer service, manipulative pricing, and shady antics. I would NOT recommend giving this business your money nor trusting them with a vehicle that needs to get you and your family safely from point A to point B. I am so appalled by how they treated us, I also plan to make a report to the Better Business Bureau. If you are looking for someone to trust with your vehicle at a fair price, Worku at Great Brakes (on University near 280) is amazing! He is the epitome of the meaning behind honesty! Jhonna Loftis
